Nothing stirs my soul more than being present somewhere and experiencing it first-hand. Spending time outdoors in nature’s room, allows me to observe, breathe, experience, and make more sense of a place.

By sketching or painting on location, I establish an acute visual memory of the subject matter that is in front of me.

My emotions get involved. The light changes, the atmosphere changes, the colours change, and if something new enters my zone like a sound or the sudden appearance of wildlife, that is even more exciting because they can become part of your picture. The painting takes on a narrative.
